Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) is the convergence of wide area networking (WAN) and network security controls aggregated into a single, cloud-delivered service for network modernization, unified security, and digital trust.

Its five basic elements are:

  • SD-WAN
  • Network based firewalls
  • Secure web gateway (SWG)
  • Cloud access security broker (CASB)
  • Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA)

SASE offers a more responsive, less CAPEX-intensive alternative to a WAN based on MPLS, but also to ‘DIY’ SD-WAN connections, and comes with built-in security services for branch offices and for employees working remotely. And while early proponents of SASE came from the tech vendor community, it has been taken up by managed service providers, as a means of diversifying their offerings and staying up-to-date with current market trends.

In this webinar, Omdia analyst Rik Turner will be in conversation with Theresa Lanowitz, Head of Cybersecurity Evangelism at AT&T Business, about the SASE trend and what tech practitioners need to know when surveying the market for potential providers.
