MITA security tender awarded to 6PM

AlienVault USM selected to extend the security management of the Malta Information Technology Agency (MITA)

6PM was recently awarded a tender by the Malta Information Technology Agency (MITA) to install AlienVault's Unified Security Management™ (USM) platform to help monitor and manage the security of the infrastructure that MITA manages on behalf of the Government of Malta.

AlienVault USM is an all-in-one platform designed to ensure that organisations can effectively defend themselves against today’s advanced threats. AlienVault USM is a unified threat detection and compliance management solution that will be installed across the IT infrastructure to deliver enhanced security visibility. The system correlates the traffic coming in and going out of the Agency. If it detects abnormal communications taking place, it will send out prioritised alerts to the Security IT team about the assets where the threat has been detected.

The public call for procurement was issued by MITA in 2014. 6PM was awarded the tender to implement the solution and maintain it for the next five years.

Brian Zarb Adami, 6PM’s Chief Technical Officer, said: “In view of the recent world cyber-attacks, it is important for institutions such as MITA to be equipped with leading technologies that help protect Malta’s national infrastructure. Our partnership with AlienVault allows us to offer our customers a security solution that enables continuous, secure and efficient flow of business."

Rodney Naudi, MITA’s Head of Governance, Risk and Compliance, said: “Through the agreement with AlienVault, MITA is looking at extending its monitoring and governance capabilities to further minimise the risk associated with information security threats. In particular, MITA is looking at capitalising on 6PM’s expertise with the solution to ensure that we build an intelligent and effective threat vector monitoring solution.”
