AlienVault named as Security Product of the Year at TechWorld Awards

San Mateo (US) and London (UK), September 14, 2012 – AlienVault, the only open and collaborative Unified Security Management platform - combining built-in controls and full visibility - was crowned Security Product of the Year by TechWorld at its prestigious award ceremony held in London on 13th September.

Hundreds of companies competed, with just seven companies short-listed, for the award. But it was AlienVault that was independently judged by a team from IDG, SAP, Oracle, Broadband Testing Labs and IDC as ultimately deserving the title.

The TechWorld Awards have firmly established themselves as the major infrastructure and networking awards event in the IT calendar. Recognising both products and users, the TechWorld Awards highlight innovation on all sides of the IT industry.

Mike Simons, Editor of ComputerWorldUK, and senior judge of the TechWorld awards, said "AlienVault were worthy winners of the hardest fought category in the TechWorld 2012 awards. Its open, non-proprietary approach to unified security management should put it on the radar of IT and security leaders everywhere"

Richard Kirk, VP Europe added, "It's always rewarding to have our hard efforts endorsed by a third party, but one with the pedigree of this independent judging panel is particularly sweet. We're delighted to accept this award, and hope our trophy cupboard continues to bulge, but at the end of the day our focus is, and remains, our customers and helping them secure their enterprises. We recognise that our strength lies in our collaborative community, and the Open Threat Exchange it creates, and I think every participant has played a part in us achieving this latest win. So thank you - we couldn't do it without you."

The TechWorld Award follows hot on the heels of AlienVault winning one of the highest accolades for any new company - it was named a 2013 Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum. AlienVault joins just 23 of the most innovative global technology start-ups, recognized for their potential to transform the future of business and society. J. Alberto Yepez, Chairman of AlienVault, received the award in Tianjin, China this week at the Annual Meeting of the New Champions.
