AlienVault Expands USM Anywhere Partner Ecosystem with New AlienApps

AlienApps for Palo Alto Networks, ServiceNow & Carbon Black expand the capabilities of its all-in-one cloud monitoring solution

SAN MATEO, Calif. – June 6, 2017AlienVault®, the leading provider of Unified Security Management™ (USM™) and crowdsourced threat intelligence, today announced the extension of its USM Anywhere™ platform with the launch of new AlienApps™ for Palo Alto Networks, ServiceNow® and Carbon Black. These join the growing ecosystem of AlienApps, including Microsoft Office 365, Google G Suite, Cisco Umbrella, and others, that enable organizations to effectively detect and respond to threats.

The AlienApp for Palo Alto Networks’ Next-Generation Firewall products and Carbon Black Endpoint Security Platform greatly extend the automatic response orchestration capabilities within USM Anywhere to support enhanced threat detection and incident response workflows.  The addition of the AlienApp for ServiceNow IT Service Management and ServiceNow Security Operations enables organizations to manage incident response efforts more effectively.

USM Anywhere is the first all-in-one security monitoring platform that integrates essential security capabilities—asset discovery, vulnerability assessment, intrusion detection, behavioral monitoring, and SIEM—to deliver centralized threat detection, incident response, and compliance management for cloud and on-premises environments from a single, unified web-based console. With a highly extensible architecture, USM Anywhere enables the seamless orchestration of new security technologies as they become available, leveraging the power of AlienApps: modular, integrated software components that extend the value proposition of the USM platform beyond the five essential security capabilities.

AlienApps extend, orchestrate, and automate USM Anywhere's threat detection and incident response functionality by enabling a coordinated, automated response to threats that are discovered by USM Anywhere, thereby reducing the mean time to response and allowing resource-constrained IT security teams to more effectively leverage their existing security tools and infrastructure.

“In today’s chaotic security environment, organizations of all sizes can easily find themselves trapped in a ‘threat cycle,’ continually adding point solutions to deal with new and emerging threats” said John Maguire, vice president of business development at AlienVault. “USM Anywhere simplifies the process by combining all of the essential security capabilities you need to gain visibility into your full infrastructure—whether it is on-premises or in the cloud—and AlienApps make it easy to add additional defenses to the USM Anywhere platform in response to changes in the threat landscape.”

“We’re pleased to partner with AlienVault on their new AlienApp for Carbon Black’s Cb Protection and Cb Response,” said Tom Barsi, Carbon Black’s senior vice president of business development. “The AlienApp facilitates advanced security orchestration capabilities between our products and USM Anywhere, enabling users to automatically isolate infected endpoints as soon as threats are detected, and shortening the time considerably between threat detection and response.”

The AlienApp for ServiceNow is purpose-built for both ServiceNow IT Service Management and ServiceNow Security Operations.  It allows teams to open and manage ServiceNow incidents from within the USM Anywhere interface, reducing the time it takes to respond and remediate detected threats. “Companies have neglected security response and orchestration capabilities for far too long,” said Sean Convery, general manager of Security Business Unit, ServiceNow. "AlienVault's new AlienApp for ServiceNow delivers threat detection into ServiceNow's structured response engine to enable security teams to respond more quickly and efficiently to threats."
