VMware AirWatch

When you configure VMware AirWatch to send log data to USM Anywhere, you can use the VMware AirWatch plugin to translate raw log data into normalized events for analysis. The table below provides some basic information for the plugin:

Integrating VMware AirWatch

Note: The following procedure is for the on-premises deployment of VMware AirWatch only.

To configure VMware AirWatch to send log data to USM Anywhere

  1. From the VMware AirWatch Console, select Hub > Reports & Analytics > Events > Syslog.
  2. On the General tab, configure the Syslog settings

    • Syslog Integration — Override
    • Host Name — USM Anywhere Sensor IP Address.
    • Protocol — UDP, TCP, or TLS
    • Port — 514 for UCP, 601 for TCP, or 6514 for TLS
    • SyslogFacility — User Level Messages
    • Message Tag — AirWatch
    • Message Content — VMware AirWatch Syslog details, as formatted below

      Event Type: {EventType}Event: : {Event}User: {User}Event Source: {EventSource}Event Module: : {EventModule}Event Category: {EventCategory}Event Data: : {EventDate}

      Important: The specified format inside Message Content must be entered exactly as shown above.

Plugin Enablement

The VMware AirWatch plugin automatically processes all messages when the raw message contains "AirWatch".

Available Plugin Fields

The following plugin fields are important attributes extracted from the syslog message. The USM Anywhere reports use these fields, and you can also reference them when creating custom reports. In addition to reporting, the USM Anywhere correlation rules make use of these fields.

  • event_name
  • source_username
  • timestamp_occured
  • event_category
  • event_subcategory
