USM Anywhere™


When you configure HAProxy integration to send log data to USM Anywhere, you can use the HAProxy plugin to translate the raw log data into normalized events for analysis.

Integrating HAProxy

Before configuring the log collection, you must have the IP address of the USM Anywhere Sensor.

The protocol for HAProxy is HTTP.

To enable this proxy protocol

  • Set option httplog on the frontend to enable this format.

To configure HAProxy to send log data over syslog to USM Anywhere

  1. Open the HAProxy server configuration file (/etc/haproxy/haproxy.cfg).
  2. Include the following lines:


    log <IP_address_of_USMA_Sensor>:514 <facility>


    facility must be any one of the standard syslog facilities:

    • kern

    • user

    • mail

    • daemon

    • auth

    • syslog

    • lpr

    • news

    • uucp

    • cron

    • auth2

    • ftp

    • nap

    • audit

    • alert

    • cron2

    • local0

    • local1

    • local2

    • local3

    • local4

    • local5

    • local6

    • local7

Plugin Enablement

The HAProxy plugin automatically processes all messages whose syslog tag matches the value "haproxy.”

Available Plugin Fields

The following plugin fields are important attributes extracted from the syslog message. The USM Anywhere reports use these fields, and you can also reference them when creating custom reports. In addition to reporting, the USM Anywhere correlation rules make use of these fields.

  • bytes_out

  • event_description

  • event_name

  • log

  • request_url

  • response_code

  • source_address

  • timestamp_occured
